How Can A Christian Deal With Besetting Sins?
But listen to this! Remember when Jesus was traveling from Bethany to Jerusalem (Mark 11:12) he had cursed the fig tree, and the next day when they passed by it again it had dried up and withered from the roots up. Do you remember what Jesus said next? “Have faith in God, truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, (what mountain?) ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea', (what sea?) 'and does not doubt in their heart, but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them. Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours. And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”
What mountain? I believe that Jesus was pointing to the Mount of Olives that day as they walked on that road from Jerusalem, in particular the Mount of Corruption (sin) and What sea? The Sea of Forgetfulness of course, fill with the blood of the Lamb. (Micah 7:18) There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains. If we have faith, we can say to the mountain of corruption in our lives, GO NOW, THROW YOURSELF INTO THE SEA to be remembered no more! And it HAS to obey you.
You may have a besetting sin that the enemy has tormented you with for years. The Lord told me to tell you today that He loves you and that He has come to redeem you from that curse and set you free. Speak to that mountain of sin, by faith say, "GO NOW, THROW YOURSELF INTO THE SEA to be remembered no more! In Jesus' Name!
