How Can A Christian Deal With Besetting Sins?

I was awakened this morning very early with the Mount of Olives on my mind. Strange huh?  I thought so.  I don't normally think in these terms, this is my husband's department!  A friend of mine used to say, "you become like the company you keep".  Anyway... Olivet is made up of four peaks, Mount of Galilee, Mount of Ascension, Mount of the Prophets, and Mount of Corruption (Solomon's groves)  and is situated on the east side of Jerusalem outside of the Eastern Gate just beyond the Kidron Valley.  Now when Jesus returns to this earth the Bible says He is going to descend onto the Mt. of Olives and that when His feet touch that mountain, it will give way and split in two.  (Zechariah 14:4) Can you just imagine that Mount of Corruption giving way beneath the almighty weight of His glory!  Oh My!  Lift up ye heads oh ye gates, and be ye lifted up ye everlasting doors and the King of Glory will come in!.

But listen to this!  Remember when Jesus was traveling from Bethany to Jerusalem (Mark 11:12)  he had cursed the fig tree, and the next day when they passed by it again it had dried up and withered from the roots up. Do you remember what Jesus said next? “Have faith in God, truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, (what mountain?) ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea', (what sea?) 'and does not doubt in their heart, but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.  And when you stand praying, if you hold anything against anyone, forgive them, so that your Father in heaven may forgive you your sins.”

What mountain?  I believe that Jesus was pointing to the Mount of Olives  that day as they walked on that road from Jerusalem, in particular the Mount of Corruption (sin)  and What sea?  The Sea of Forgetfulness of course, fill with the blood of the Lamb. (Micah 7:18)  There is a fountain filled with blood drawn from Emmanuel's veins; and sinners plunged beneath that flood lose all their guilty stains.   If we have faith, we can say to the mountain of corruption in our lives, GO NOW, THROW YOURSELF INTO THE SEA to be remembered no more! And it HAS to obey you.

You may have a besetting sin that the enemy has tormented you with for years.  The Lord told me to tell you today that He loves you and that He has come to redeem you from that curse and set you free.  Speak to that mountain of sin, by faith say, "GO NOW, THROW YOURSELF INTO THE SEA to be remembered no more! In Jesus' Name!
